Kafr Ammar

Kafr Ammar

At the beginning of the 20th century, well-known English Egyptologist Flinders Petrie excavated an ancient cemetery about 50 km south of Cairo near the village of Kafr Ammar.

In the cemetery, today's "Tarkhan", he found graves dating back to all periods of Egyptian history, especially from the time of the first dynasty around 3000 BC. Experts assume that some of them even date back to the era of the first Pharaoh, Menes.
